Tooling & Production Management
While CAD modelling, DFM engineering and rapid prototyping have improved communication and condensed the product development process, there are still quality assurance issues to address in production. You need someone who can help you interpret the processing reports, check critical dimension deviations from off-tool samples and ensure qualitative factors, such as surface finish meet expectations.
For the Polaris Soundshield system, Outerspace took responsibility for production issue tracking and resolution, while keeping the client informed. All critical dimensions were engineered to be “steel safe” so they could be modified by removing steel from the injection moulds, rather than expensively adding it. By taking charge of production, we freed up Polaris to focus on sales and marketing of their award-winning new product range.
